Export Poll Results and the Attendee List

Export poll results means walking out with who was in the room, what they voted, and which questions they typed — in a file you can hand to CRM the same afternoon. A screenshot of a word cloud is not a roster. Work emails never hit the pipeline if you never asked for them.

The useful part of a live session is rarely the chart. The chart is a moment. The list is the session.

What you should export after a live poll

A complete export has three sheets of meaning, even if they land in one CSV:

• Attendees — name and work email for everyone who joined.
• Votes — the poll, the option or score, the person.
• Questions — the Q&A they submitted, including what you pinned or hid.

If any of those is missing, follow-up dies in the hallway. You remember a mood. You do not have a next step.

Why most "results" are a picture

Live tools optimize for the projector. The bar chart looks done. People clap. Then you have no emails.

Mentimeter's Excel export is a paid feature. Participant names are a Pro or Enterprise toggle. Email collection is a separate Quick Form slide, also Pro or Enterprise, and it is another slide you have to remember to run. The default path is anonymous votes and a PDF of the pretty slides.

That is fine for a conference icebreaker. It is a hole in a sales workshop, a POC day, or enablement where you need to know who is stuck.

Join is the roster

Capture the list at the door, not as a bonus question.

Repoll join is name, work email, a five-character code. No app. When the poll closes you export attendees, votes, and questions before the room empties. One download. The list is still warm.

Do not make "who are you" a word-cloud prompt. Do not hope they type an email into open text. If follow-up matters, join is a form with a work email field, then the live poll on the slide.

How to export poll results the same afternoon

1. Require name and work email at join. Anonymous is a setting, not the default, when the meeting is commercial.
2. Run the polls and the moderated Q&A in the same session. One room, one roster.
3. Close the last poll while people are still in their seats.
4. Export CSV. Attendees, votes, questions.
5. Load the emails before you walk to the lobby. The hallway is where lists go to die.

What to do with the file

Sales: who voted "not ready" is who needs a different next meeting. Enablement: who asked the question everyone else needed. All-hands: the pinned questions are the agenda for the follow-up note. Vendor days: you leave with names even when their polling tool is blocked.

Keep the file on-brand in the only way that matters after the hour: it is their people. See on-brand live polls. The CSV will not wear a logo. It should still be usable without decoding a vendor's voter IDs.

CSV vs Excel vs PDF

PDF is a picture with better resolution. Excel is what Mentimeter sells on paid plans. CSV is what CRMs, Sheets, and HubSpot actually ingest without a ritual. If your "export" is slides, you exported the show. You did not export the room.

Can I export Mentimeter results to CSV?

Mentimeter's documented path is Download → Spreadsheet (XLSX) on a paid plan. You can save that file as CSV after. Emails are not in that export unless you collected them on a Quick Form. Names are not in it unless you turned participant names on.

Do live polls have to be anonymous?

No. Anonymous is right for culture surveys and some all-hands. Named plus work email is right when you will follow up. Tell the room at join. Do not surprise them after.

When should I export — live or after the meeting?

Export before the room empties. After the meeting, laptops close and "I'll send the recap" competes with the next call. The list is easiest to trust while the session is still open.
